Removing CS2 from Windows 7.

I'm losing hair.

Recently, the company I work for updated their very outdated CS2 installations and went straight to Creative Cloud, which is great. The only issue is that I am completely unable to remove the CS2 installation from my system, and for some unknown reason my system keeps resetting it's default programs to CS2, which is extremely frustrating when I'm using the 'Edit Original' options in InDesign or 'Open with' option in Windows Explorer.

This is compounded by the fact that when I try to uninstall the CS2 installation in my control panel, I get the error message;

The installer could not start because of the following reasons:

Missing or invalid personalization information.

Missing resources library.

I have been hunting around for some time trying to find a solution, Adobe provide a CS Cleaner tool, but this only works for installations of CS3 and above, I have had a look at their manual uninstall instructions but a fairly major step in that is to remove the software in my programs and features toolbar in control panel, which is where the problem is, so that is useless.

I'm reluctant to simply delete everything and then go through cleaning out the files, as I don't want to upset my current installation at all (as I can't afford the downtime if I stuff it up), and I'm also concerned that even if I do, the default program keys will remain in the registry and won't solve my problem anyway.

Does anyone know of a CS cleaner tool which also removes CS2?

Any help appreciated.
