Lightroom 5 in mac date filter doesn't sort by year or month, only by day

I have Lightroom 5 installed on both a PC and a Mac. On the PC, when using the date filter, I can sort by year, then month, then day. On the Mac, the only option is to sort by day.

What gives? any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
