Re: Virtual Copy

Not possible and probably never will be possible.

Making VC out side of a collection does not place those VCs in any collection. making, creating a VC inside a collection, when that collection is selected and only the images in that collection is shown, does place the VC in that collection.

A VC is just that, A Virtual Copy. It does not exist.

In LR no image file is ever changed. LR is a Non Destructive Editor. Only if that image is Exported to some other format (or in the case of exporting a JPG and using JPG as the export file format. A New Second file can be created) are the edits you have made to the original be burnt into that exported file. Same goes for sending a file to PS. In PS when saved a new file will be created that will contain the LR edits and whatever you did in PS.

Otherwise what LR does is DISPLAY the edits you have done to that image Over the Top of the original.

Even if you do edits to the original file and then think, "I'd like to try this/that/whatever" you can then make a VC, Reset the edits in that VC and get back to the original look. Or do future edits to the VC and it will not affect the original.

You can make VCs of all the images in a collection and then in the filter bar set it to only show Virtual Copies. Hiding all the originals in that collection.
